Working with number bases
Binary (base 2) uses the digits 0–1, octal (base 8) uses 0–7, decimal (base 10) uses 0–9, and hexadecimal (base 16) extends the set with A–F. Bases above 16 continue through the alphabet up to Z at base 36.
Hexadecimal is convenient in computing because one hex digit maps to exactly four binary
digits, so FF is precisely 11111111 — one byte.
